Qgis Study Group for beginners In-Person

Qgis is a open source gis software. Its getting more and more popular among students at UCPH Faculty of Humanities because its free, flexible and opens a lot of new opportunities.

It basically about working with maps in layers. For example a modern map in one layer and a historical map in another layer.

You can combine different kinds of source material by adding or plotting information into the maps. Information from the Sound Toll Register can be plot into historical maps and visualize that some ships departed from Copenhagen, others from Elsinore, some sailed to Guinea, others to The Virgin Islands. Information from census' can be plotted on maps and visualize how lived where and when.

Please download and install Qgis from this site: https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html before attending.

And please bring all your questions, ideas, and excitement and gain help from HUMlab members, Mads Linnert Perner (BA), Mikkel Nørtoft (KA), Stig Svenningsen (Ph.d.) and Peder Gammeltoft (Ph.d.) which are experts in gis and Qgis.
