Write and publish more using AI - a workshop for researcher In-Person

The use of generative AI is increasingly widespread in academic research and writing. These powerful tools have the potential to greatly increase productivity and efficiency. They can even be used to suggest new ideas and to enable the use of methods, such as programming, that are otherwise difficult to master. However, the models can be prone to confabulation and bias, as well as being associated with a range of other ethical issues related to fairness, credit, and deskilling.

In this workshop, we explore the practical use of LLMs for academic research and writing. We discuss work on personalized and application-specific language models and provide practical tips and tricks for responsible LLM use. Finally, we introduce and discuss a framework for the ethical use and acknowledgement of LLMs in scholarly writing and research. The workshop does not require technical skills or existing familiarity with LLMs.

It will be interactive, with the chance to ask questions and engage with the material presented throughout.

Participants may want to bring their laptops to try out some of the examples.

NB: The workshop is for researchers.
